WHAT WE AIM TO DO

Create a self-sustainable future where your home provides its own electricity, water, heating, cooling, and food.

After being in the building industry for 30 years, and working with all forms of building material, Mal, our number 1 Silverback and leader of his troop, has decided he wants to get back in touch with his core values of Strength, Integrity, and Quality, and integrate these essential components into his building designs.

No longer happy to produce conventional homes, he is on a journey to branch out and take his building expertise in another direction. That decision to break away from the norm has lead Mal to rediscover his love for authenticity, and as such, moving forward the plan is to use Rammed Earth as Silverback Homes main building material.

Designing and building with this versatile and beautiful material to construct modern homes, as well as feature walls in new builds, outdoor entertainment area walls, and screening in landscaping projects, entranceways, and boundary fences.

If you too are feeling the need to break away from the status quo of conventional housing, yet love quality, comfort, and modern features, join Mal as he embraces change and moves forwards towards producing a brand of home that speaks to everything you love without the weight of ongoing maintenance, and with minimal reliance on public utilities.

Creating consciously designed and crafted homes to last a lifetime or two.

A WORD FROM MAL

My Name is Malcolm Williams. I have worked on a variety of building jobs all up and down the country, from architectural residential homes in the Bay of Islands, to commercial projects in Christchurch after the 2011 earthquake. I have run my own business for 30 years now and have also been a member of the Certified Builders Assosiation for over 15 years. I pride myself on the work I do so when you come to me you know you are getting the absolute best you can get. I first worked with rammed earth during the Kawakawa library build, where I realised this could be the perfect opportunity to create good-looking sustainable homes for people all over New Zealand. It is my goal to build affordable, durable homes, that cater to, and provide for everyone, without all the ongoing costs and maintenance typical of home designs we have come to know.
